Wine columnist Tom Forrest in the London Evening Standard (17 November 2015) addresses the issue of how to select a wine to accompany a meal in a restaurant? and suggests “Don’t go for the second cheapest and always stick to your budget“. He offers five tips that might help, including:
Don’t fall into the “I’ll choose the second cheapest wine on the list” trap. Firstly it does show a lack of imagination but more importantly, the odds are it is still a fairly meh! wine so it might not show a lot of character or charm.
