The Hungarian Wine House (Magyar Borház) is an independent online wine merchant which was founded by a young Hungarian (Balint Takacs), living in London for several years.
Having travelled in the countryside and living in the capital, I have realized that British people, including my acquaintances, friends and colleagues, are not familiar with Hungarian wines (except for Tokaji), and Hungarians living in the UK cannot, or only with difficulties, buy good quality Hungarian wine.
My aim is to make British people familiar with Hungarian wines, and have them to like Hungarian wines, as well as to meet the demands of Hungarian and non-Hungarian wine drinkers by providing high standard services.
it is certainly the case that the names of most Hungarian wines and wine regions are unknown to most UK wine lovers. There are some familiar grape varieties such as Merlot, Pinot Noir etc but also some totally unpronouncable and unfamilar wines such as Feind Cserszegi Fűszeres “a grape variety which bears the name of its birth place (the Commune of Cserszeg) and the main attribute spicy (fűszeres). It resembles qualities of a Gewürztraminer. Straw yellow colour with a lively acidity hint of peach, elderflower and spice. Easy to appreciate, drink now. Recommended drinking temperature: 9-11°C. Goes well with vegetable soups, fruit salad and light dishes.”
